Tooth-Colored Dental Fillings

If you have tooth decay, fillings are usually the best option for restoring your oral health if the issue is caught quickly enough. At our Gainesville dental office, we use tooth-colored (composite) dental fillings. These fillings match the color of the surrounding teeth perfectly, providing a seamless restoration. They also require the removal of less structure while preparing your tooth.

The procedure is very simple, too. Dr. Feldman will numb a localized area of your mouth, remove damaged material with our quieter electric handpieces, and then place the composite material into the prepared site. He’ll sculpt, shape, and trim the resin to fit into your tooth perfectly. Then, he’ll check your bite, make any necessary adjustments, and send you home to enjoy your newly-restored tooth.

Our Restorative Services

Dental Bridges

Dental bridges are used to replace a missing tooth or teeth when dental implants are not an option or the patient wants another approach. A dental bridge involves preparing the teeth on either side of a missing tooth in all directions and covering them with crowns connected by a false tooth between them. This false tooth is called a "pontic" and is made out of the same material as the crowns. This non-removable treatment option fills the gap permanently and restores both your bite and your smile.

Full & Partial Dentures

We offer partial dentures, which usually consist of multiple acrylic teeth on a metal framework that uses clasps around healthy teeth to keep it in place. We also offer full dentures. These consist of a full set of teeth on an acrylic base. Full dentures can be used to replace the upper or lower arch, or all of your teeth. Full (or complete) dentures require all remaining teeth to be extracted, so they are only a good choice for patients with severe oral health issues. Patients in need of full dentures should consider dental implant supported dentures for better comfort and function.

What are the Benefits of Restorative Dentistry?

Restorative dentistry can improve the function of your teeth. Eating and speaking properly can be difficult when you have missing or damaged teeth. Restorative dentistry can help to restore your teeth so that you can eat and speak normally again.

It can also improve the appearance of your smile. If you have missing or damaged teeth, your smile may look less than perfect. Restorative dentistry can help you restore and maintain that beautiful smile you can be proud of.

Restorative dentistry can help to prevent further damage to your teeth. When you have missing or damaged teeth, it leaves open spaces in your mouth where food and bacteria can collect. This can damage adjacent teeth. Restorative dentistry can help to close off these spaces so that they are no longer a problem.

Our restorative dentistry procedures can help to save money in the long run. When you have missing or damaged teeth, it is important to visit our dental office and have them fixed as soon as possible so that they do not cause further damage to your mouth or cost more money to fix down the road.

You can count on Dr. Feldman to offer a restorative dentistry service that will restore your smile and confidence. After the procedure, you will be able to laugh, smile or make a speech without being worried about the condition of your teeth.

What dental problems can restorative dentistry solve?

We use restorative dentistry to treat several dental issues. Some of these problems include:

Cavities

These are among the most prevalent dental problems, which occur when the enamel is damaged by tooth decay. Restorative procedures such as dental filling or crown placement can repair cavities and prevent further damage to your teeth.

Gaps and spaces

Gaps and spaces between your teeth can occur for various reasons, such as missing teeth or tooth infections. Dental bridges and implants are two popular options for filling these gaps and spaces.

Gum disease

Restorative dentistry can treat gum disease by scaling and root planing (deep cleaning), as well as by placing grafts or recession coverage to help regenerate lost tissue.

Tooth or Teeth Damage

Your teeth can be damaged from trauma or wear and tear over time. Procedures such as bonding, veneers, and crowns can repair damaged teeth and restore your smile.

Does insurance cover restorative dentistry?

While many dental insurance policies cover preventive care such as cleanings and x-rays, they may not fully cover more costly procedures like restorative dentistry. However, many policies will cover at least a portion of the cost of these treatments. It is important to check with your insurance provider to see what is covered under your policy.

It is important to check with your insurance provider to see what is covered under your policy, but ultimately it is best to look at dental insurance as more of a coupon to help you cover the work that is needed. You do not want to let the insurance companies dictate what you do to achieve and maintain proper oral health.
