We Can Reverse It!

Isn't Being Numb the Worst?

September 30, 2022

The Problem

Having to get dental work can be stressful to some patients for several reasons, and we understand that. Commonly though, patients will remark to us that they don't really mind the work or even the shots that are needed. What they dislike most is the feeling of being numb and how long it lasts. They have to deal with difficulty speaking clearly, smiling, or even drinking properly for hours after the procedure. No one wants to drool around their friends or coworkers. Children and adults also have a tendency to bite their lips and the inside of their cheeks when unable to feel them. This can cause pain and even damage to the tissue.

The Solution

At Gainesville Dentistry Co., we offer Oraverse (Phentolamine Mesylate) for patients who want to cut down on the time they are forced to be numb. Oraverse has been shown in clinical trials to return a patient to normal sensation up to twice as fast compared to control groups. The lips, tongue, cheeks, and even nose can sometimes be numb for as long as 4 hours. You have a busy, full life and don't have time to be hindered for that long after a dental visit. In the clinical trial, while the control patients were numb in the upper lip for a median time of 133 minutes, those who were injected with Oraverse were only numb for 50 minutes. In the lower lips, the numbness was only 70 minutes for those with Oraverse compared to 155 minutes for those without.

Why Does Gainesville Dentistry Co. Offer It?

The answer is simple. Our patients matter to us. Your experience from the moment you call our practice is critically important to us. The way it feels when you walk into our office, the level of treatment we provide in the chair, and even how easy a time you have following the appointment is all something we think about. You are not just a number here. You are not just someone we forget about once you leave. We know that the vast majority of your time is spent outside of our walls, so we try to think of ways to make that time better for you. A fundamental way of doing that is to make sure that our dental work feels good and functions as it should. An overlooked way by most dental practices is to offer solutions for lessening the time you need to feel numb. The best dentists and best dental practices are constantly putting the well-being of their patients as a top priority. Dr. Feldman and the team at GDC do that every time we come to work.

Interested? Now What?

Adding Oraverse to your treatment is extremely simple. Mention to the team that you would like to learn more about a way to reverse the numbness sooner. For a very small additional fee, we will provide the needed injections at the completion of your treatment. It is well worth the small investment to enjoy the rest of your day that much sooner. Once again, there is absolutely no pain associated with it since you are already numb in that area!
